Sen. Rezin recently toured O-I, one of the largest glass bottle producers in the country. State Representative Frank Mautino (D-Spring Valley) joined her for tour of the Sterling, Illinois facility last week. At the plant, two hundred employees produce over two million glass bottles a day. O-I is a large consumer of recycled glass. Over 30% of their production is made up post consumer glass, known as cullett. That number would be higher but O-I’s demand for cullett far exceeds the current supply.
