The most recent inspection of a box culvert on IL 71 over a stream, just north of Newark and south of Hughes Rd., has lowered the rating requiring a 20 TON load posting. A legal load is 40 TON.
IDOT is working to replace or repair the structure. In the meantime, the structure will be posted at 20 TON with advanced signing to allow drivers options well in advance of the structure.
IDOT is working to get this structure back to at least legal load limits.
