Sen. Rezin’s statement on the emergency provisions filed that would charge businesses with Class A misdemeanor for violating the stay-at-home order

State Senator Sue Rezin (R-Morris) released the following statement on the emergency provisions filed that would charge businesses with Class A misdemeanor for violating the stay-at-home order

“It is inexcusable for the Governor to unilaterally impose new penalties on hard-working business owners who have already suffered greatly due to this pandemic. For the Governor to sidestep the legislative branch and threaten Illinoisans with jail-time or a $2,500 fine for trying to make a living is completely unacceptable.

“I anticipate these emergency provisions will be hotly debated in this week’s JCAR meeting. I look forward to standing up for the citizens of our state and opposing this total overreach of power.”
