SPRINGFIELD– State Senator Sue Rezin (R-Peru), served as featured panelist as part of the “Women in Power” program of the IEEE Power and Energy Society. Topics included the state-wide adoption of smart grid technology and the current rulemaking process for fracking.
“The power industry is the heart of our area, providing countless direct and indirect jobs, as well as generating the tax revenues to fund local programs,” said Senator Rezin. “It is incredibly important for the entire state that we ensure reliable, technologically advanced energy infrastructure to power our future and provide jobs for the next generation.”
The “Women in Power” program seeks to encourage career advancement for female professionals in the energy sector. Senator Rezin took part in panel on “Inclusion and Diversity in the Energy Industry” held at the Chicago campus of IIT.
“Ensuring a diverse workforce for every industry means providing opportunities for people of all genders, races, and national origins,” said Senator Rezin. “This allows our entire population to take part at all levels of the workforce, bringing a wide variety of ideas and innovations to our business community.”
