To give more people the opportunity to participate in her annual “Valentines for Seniors” card drive, State Senator Sue Rezin (R-Morris) is extending the deadline for submissions to February 10. The initiative aims to bring joy to residents of long-term care and assisted-living facilities by delivering heartfelt Valentine’s Day cards from community members.
“Each year, I am overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown by our community through this initiative,” said Senator Rezin. “Extending the deadline ensures that even more people can take part in brightening a senior’s day with a simple, thoughtful message.”
Senator Rezin is encouraging churches, schools, and individuals across the 38th Senate District to participate by writing Valentine’s Day cards with messages of kindness and appreciation. The cards will then be delivered to seniors across the district, spreading joy and strengthening intergenerational connections.
Cards can now be dropped off or mailed until February 10 at one of Senator Rezin’s district offices:
- Morris Office – 1802 N. Division St., Ste 314, Morris, IL 60450
- Peru Office – 350 5th St., Ste 264, Peru, IL 61354
- DeKalb Office – 850 4th St., DeKalb, IL 60115
Additionally, cards can also be dropped off at the Yorkville Public Library, located at 902 Game Farm Rd., Yorkville, IL 60560.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this wonderful initiative to help uplift the spirit of our local seniors,” said Yorkville Public Library Director Shelley Augustine. “Libraries have always served as a hub for community engagement, and this partnership is a perfect opportunity for people of all ages to come together and share kindness.”
