Rezin joins Anthony to promote Diabetes Awareness Day and diabetes screenings

MORRIS, IL – On November 14, State Sen. Sue Rezin (R-Morris) participated in Diabetes Awareness Day at Morris Hospital where she was screened for diabetes and learned more about the disease that affects millions of people worldwide.

The Illinois Legislative Diabetes Caucus hosted over 40 screening locations throughout the state during the day in an effort to raise awareness and promote early detection of the disease.

Sen. Rezin said diabetes is a growing pandemic throughout the world, but steps can be taken to be proactive about your health and prevent your risk of the disease.

“I encourage people to take advantage of free screenings such as the ones that were held today.  Being proactive about your health can help prevent diagnoses of diseases such as diabetes,” she said.  “It’s unfortunate that diabetes affects so many people in this country and around the world, but through awareness and testing, we can prevent a lot of those cases.”
